Niu sold a quarter of a million electric scooters in Q2 2021

Beijing-based smart electric scooter manufacturer Niu has shared its Q2 2021 sales performances. Both domestic and international markets saw significant growth compared to last year.

252,998 electric scooters were sold worldwide in Q2 2021, 58% year-over-year growth to 160,138 units in Q2 2020.

The domestic market contributes 97% of Niu's sales in the quarter, with 246,018 units. 

Niu's international figure also grew by over 34% year over year.

China's recovery from COVID-19 has helped Niu to achieve a high sales number. In the first half of 2021, 402,647 units were sold while only 200,298 units in the first half of 2020, which is about a 101% year-over-year increase.

Context

The e-scooter maker's portfolio continues to expand in 2021. While initially focused on premium end customers, Niu has introduced a variety of entry-level scooters that have widened the company's customer base.

Niu now owns 2366 brick-and-mortar stores in China and online retail channels such as Tmall and JD.com.
