BEIJING (PingWest) – Duoshan, the video chat brand under TikTok, has hit 5.06 million downloads on China’s app store since it launched on January 21, according to Sensor Tower.

Doushan is a standalone video messaging app which combines video chatting with features similar to TikTok.

The download figure is currently 2.19 times that of WeChat, 2.79 that of Kuaishou, a short-video giant, and 2.13 times that of Baidu’s Haokan video.

Additionally, the downloads of TikTok and WeChat have grown slowly since last June, but under the effect of short-video red packet competition during the Spring Festival, the downloads of TikTok, Kuaishou, and Haokan video are up 11.7%, 18.3%, and 288% month-on-month, respectively. Only downloads of WeChat decreased, by 4.5%.
