Netease Q2 Revenue up 15.3%

Beijing (PingWest)- Chinese internet and online gaming giant Netease grew its Q2 net revenue by 15.3% year on year to CNY18.8 billion (USD2.73 billion) on the back of strong growth in its core business line of games, according to the company’s finical statement released on Wednesday.

"Our diverse portfolio of games and dedicated focus on our core business lines continued to lead our growth in the second quarter with net revenues and net income attributable to the Company's shareholders increasing by 15% and 46% year-over-year, respectively," said William Ding, Chief Executive Officer of NetEase. "We launched several new games in China and abroad in the second quarter, further enriching our strong game portfolio that spans a variety of genres. Our global initiatives are well underway. In addition to Knives Out and Identity V, a number of our new games have gained user recognition in Japan, including Life-After and Cyber Hunter. We are pleased with the progress we have made to introduce our games to international audiences and fortify our relationships with other industry leaders in the video games and entertainment markets. We will continue exploring overseas market opportunities and growing our games business on a global scale.

Online game service net revenue came in at CNY11.4 billion (USD1.66 billion), representing a year on year increase of 13.6% compared to the second quarter of 2018.

Total revenue in E-commerce sector were CNY5.24 billion (USD764.3million), up 20.2% compared to the same period of last year.

Total revenue in advertising services sector were CNY581.6 million (USD84.7million), down 8.3% year-on-year.
