Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is set to unveil AI chatbots featuring human-like personalities. The move is part of their strategic emphasis on user retention efforts.

According to a report from the Financial times, the chatbots' prototypes have been developed, and the finished versions will be able to converse with consumers on a human level.

Insiders familiar with the project reveal that Meta's team refers to the AI chatbots as "personas," designed to embody distinct characters. Among these chatbots is one resembling the speaking style of the former United States president, Abraham Lincoln, while another assumes the persona of a laid-back surfer, offering travel advice. These creative approaches reflect Meta's efforts to craft engaging and diverse personalities for their AI chatbot offerings.

The chatbots' functions will include providing recommendations and additional search features in addition to being "fun products for people to play with."

In July, Meta introduced a commercial version of its open-source AI model, called Llama 2. This upgraded version is designed for widespread use and is set to be distributed via Microsoft's Azure cloud service. Users will have the convenience of running Llama 2 on the Windows operating system, making it easily accessible to a broad audience.
