Tesla is planning to sell its China-made Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles in Canada.
The anticipated sales in Canada will be Tesla's first shipment of electric vehicles from its Shanghai, China factory to North America.
Both the long-range, all-wheel drive Model 3 and the rear-wheel drive Model Y vehicles were listed on Tesla's website as being ready for immediate delivery in British Columbia, with codes indicating they were manufactured in Tesla's Gigafactory Shanghai.
In Canada, the Model Y electric car has a suggested retail price of $61,990. Before incentives are added to the pricing, it is 22% more expensive than what a comparable vehicle would cost in China.
Tesla said last month that it will sell a new, less expensive Model Y in Canada; this variation would have rear-wheel drive and be eligible for government subsidies in that country.
