Smart LiDAR sensor maker Robosense raised funds from Geely, BAIC and GAC

RoboSense, a smart LiDAR sensor system maker and technology provider for autonomous cars, recently announced its new round of strategic financing, with Geely Holding Group & Lotus Technologies, BAIC Group, GAC Group as investors. The company already counts many industry giants as investors, including Hubei Xiaomi Yangtze River Industry Fund, Hong Kong Lixun Limited, BYD Group, etc.

Founded in 2014 in Shenzhen, RoboSense develops smart LiDAR solutions for the transportation sector. Their technology has been widely adapted in automatic/assisted driving scenarios such as commercial vehicles, unmanned logistics vehicles, robotaxis, robotrucks, robobuses, intelligent transportation infrastructure, etc. According to the company’s website, their smart solutions currently cover more than 50 models of sports cars, SUVs, and trucks, etc.

The company accumulated over 700 LiDAR related patents as of 2021, and has won multiple industry awards such as AutoSens Award, Audi innovation lab Champion and CES innovation Award.

In 2018, RoboSense raised over  300 million RMB from Cainiao - Alibaba’s logistics arm, BAIC — the largest OME for new energy passenger cars in China at the time, Shangqi Capital — the investment arm of SAIC Group. In the same year, the MEMS solid-state LIDAR developed by RoboSense was successfully installed on Cainiao's new unmanned logistics vehicle G Plus.

RoboSense is currently collaborating with autonomous driving companies such as WeRide and Pony.ai to commersialize autonomous driving technology.
