Douyin, TikTok's sister app in China, is testing a logistics service named Yinzunda (音尊达), which aims to provide users with a better delivery experience, Chinese tech news outlet 36Kr reported.

The logistics service, launched by Douyin, integrates third-party couriers including Yunda, ZTO, and YTO, and counts on them to fulfill last mile delivery.

Guaranteed logistics services are critical for the development of e-commerce businesses. The soft launch of Yinzunda demonstrates that Douyin wants to gain more control over the logistics sector to boost e-commerce business growth.

With the debut of its own digital payment service Douyin Pay (抖音支付), the China's most popular short video platform also makes a push in the payment sector. Last year, it launched a "buy now, pay later" service called Dou Installment (DOU分期).

Currently, Douyin is like a full-fledged e-commerce platform with a complete ecosystem covering marketplace, payment and logistics.

Blending entertainment with instant purchasing, live commerce has transformed the retail industry and established itself as a major sales channel in China in less than five years.

The TikTok sister app saw the gross merchandise value (GMV) of its live commerce business reaching 500 billion yuan ($78.5 billion) in 2020.

From 2019 until the end of 2020, China's live commerce market increased to 900 billion yuan. According to an industry report, the number of users on livestreaming platforms reached 617 million in 2020, accounting for 62.4% of total internet users in China, while the number of livestreamers exceeded 130 million.
