Alibaba Cloud Taps Global Partners with China Gateway Programme

Hangzhou(PingWest)- Alibaba Cloud, the cloud-computing arm of Chinese e-commerce powerhouse Alibaba Group unveiled a slew of new global partners for its “China Gateway” programme during the Apsara Conference 2019 held in Hangzhou, the company’s biggest cloud computing event of the year.

Refinitiv, Cannon and The Trade Desk are the latest to partner with Alibaba Cloud, which helps businesses to use technologies such as data analytics and artificial intelligence to develop innovative solutions and expand influence in the world’s second-largest economy

Other companies that join the growing list of companies to sign on service from Alibaba’s Cloud includes Ford, WeWork, DBS Bank, Singapore Management University Academy, Shiseido and Chemist Warehouse.

Refinitiv, a financial market data and infrastructure providers (formerly the financial and risk business of Thomson Reuters), is working with Alibaba Cloud to bring its financial solutions to financial institutions globally.

“Refinitiv is exploring how to bring our products and services to customers globally via partnership with Alibaba Cloud,” said Nicole Chen, managing director of Refinitiv Greater China.

Japanese imaging-solution provider Canon said it take advantage of Alibaba Cloud solutions, including online-to-offline integration, data analysis, to help support aftersales data analysis in order to improve users experience in China. 

The Trade Desk, an objective ad-buying platform, is using Alibaba Cloud to meet the needs for high volume, high concurrency and low latency services across the region.

The China Gateway Program, which launched in March 2019, aiming to help companies of all sizes enter the Chinese market growing their presence in the country.

Alibaba said by leveraging the cloud technologies, information security and networking products, all companies in the programme will be better able to allocate resource in China and connect their China operation with their offices worldwide. The program also provide them access to Alibaba ecosystem encompassing payments, e-commerce and logistics applications to better serve their Chinese customers.

Under China Gateway Programme, companies can use Alibaba’s cloud solution to connect their local operational software such as ERP, CRM in China.

“We would like to support more customers to innovate in China and we are confident of helping local business of all sizes and background to grow in China and transfer their success to other parts of the world,” said Selina Yuan, president of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International.

Announced during Alibaba Cloud’s annual Apsara Conference 2019 in Hangzhou on Thursday, Alibaba Cloud and German enterprise-software provider SAP would deepen their partnership with the release of new options for users to run SAP applications on Alibaba Cloud’s platform.

“The collaboration will help Chinese companies to speed up their migration to the cloud and promote their innovation and digital transformation,” said Stefan Wager, global senior vice president at SAP.

Separately announced during the cloud conference, U.S. electronic components and service provider Avnet launched a store on 1688.com, an Alibaba’s wholesale platform for industrial products.

Under the cooperation agreement, Alibaba will help Avnet to grow its online presence in China and guide and offer Chinese customers better access to Avnet’s electronic components.

“Through our alliance with Alibaba Cloud, we will leverage cloud technologies and our ecosystem to offer Chinese developers easier access to the products that can help them to overcome the challenges of scaling to production, Chinese developers will be able to take their IoT solutions to market faster than before,” said Nishant, vice president of digital at Avnet.

In total, Alibaba Cloud announced 85 new products and features at the annual flagship Apsara Conference, including the launch of AI inference chip Hanguang 800 and its third-generation X-Dragon Architecture, making significant advancements in the company's evolution to data intelligence and artificial intelligence-powered cloud.
