Financial services and payments giant Square on Tuesday said it was working with short video platform TikTok to launch Square × TikTok, a new service for sellers.
With Square x TikTok, sellers are able to grow their business by running ads using TikTok Ads Manager, sync their existing item catalog to TikTok for inclusion in curated shopping tabs on their profiles, and include product links in content that points buyers to Square Online in order to complete a purchase.
The service will make it easy for sellers of all types and sizes to reach new customers and grow their sales online.
“We are constantly working to help sellers expand their online presence and reach new customers,” said David Rusenko, head of eCommerce at Square. “We’re looking forward to helping our sellers tap into a valuable, rapidly expanding new customer base on TikTok.”
Currently, the service is open to TikTok For Business users, and will soon be available to all sellers.
Context: TikTok, which is owned by China’s ByteDance, is aggressively pushing into e-commerce sector.
Last month, TikTok expanded cooperation with Shopify, allowing TikTok For Business users to add a new “Shopping” tab to their TikTok profiles and sync their product catalogs to create mini-storefronts on their profile.
The social video platform first announced its plans to partner with Shopify last October, with the introduction of new tools that allowed Shopify merchants to create, run and optimize their TikTok marketing campaigns directly from the Shopify dashboard, as well as new integrations within the TikTok For Business Ads Manager.
Shopify said it saw a 76% increase in its social commerce channels between February 2020 and February 2021, with TikTok the fastest-growing platform.
