BEIJING (PingWest) - Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Sinovation Ventures, a China-focused investment firm founded by Kaifu Lee, signed an agreement to set up a Computer Perception and Intelligent Control Lab, according to Jiemian.

Dr. Zhang Tong is named as the director of the lab. Additionally, Dr. Zhang has joined Sinovation Ventures and will be a research partner, Sinovation Ventures said.

Research will include the basic theory and algorithms of machine learning, computer perception, and intelligent control.

Dr. Zhang served as the Deputy Director of Baidu Research, Director of Tencent AI Lab, and is teaching in the Department of Math and Computer Science at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
