Smartisan Founder Luo Yonghao Sold Out Goods Worth $15.5 Million

Founder and CEO of smartphone maker Smartisan Luo Yonghao started his first e-commerce live stream on China’s leading short video platform Douyin at 8pm Beijing time Monday, topping sales of RMB 110 million ($15.5 million).

His live stream attracted 48 million viewers and sold a total of 910,000 products during his three-hour live stream, Data from Douyin said.

Zhu Xiaomi was Luo’s assistant in the live stream, responsible for introducing products in details. Zhu was the former vice president of Products Department of Smartisan

Luo sold 22 products in total, including tech and digital products, basic daily necessities and food and beverage.

Lu Weibing, Xiaomi’s President of China Region and General Manager of Redmi Brand joined Luo’s live stream to promote Xiaomi’s new-released product smartphone Mi 10. More than 3,800 Mi 10 were sold during Luo’s live stream, generating a total sales of over RMB16 million.

Wang Xiaochuan, CEO at China’s Tech company Sougou, also joined Luo’s live stream to advertise and promote his company’s AI recorder.


“I don’t make money, but only make friends,” Luo announced the slogan for his live stream a few days before it happened. Nevertheless, Luo earned RMB3.54 million only from rewards from viewers.
