BEIJING (PingWest) — Yu Chengdong, also known as Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei consumer business group, revealed to media that the company’s market share will soon surpass Samsung, to become the leader of global mobile market.
Yu said, Huawei’s innovation has topped Apple, proving by its recently released novel foldable Mate X, which has been in development for three years. Pricing at $2600 marked its high-end market position, but Huawei aims to lower this model price to $1300 in one or two years.
As for future technology, Yu revealed that Huawei is developing AR (augmented reality) glasses which can magnify phone screens to a maximum 20-inch effect.
Huawei is certainly working its way up to the top global mobile leader. This year, the company is anticipating a shipment breakthrough of 250 million worldwide and reaching 300 million by the end of next year. Yesterday, Yu stated on Weibo that the shipment of Mate 20 model series is expecting to exceed 10 million in four and a half month.
