BEIJIG (PingWest) — Chinese tech giant Tencent partnered with five international financial service corporations — Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Global Network (including Diners Club), and JCB — to allow WeChat users to link cards for payments, according to Tencent on Wednesday, November 6.

This move provides convenience for foreigners outside China to use mobile payments. Under the guidance of the People’s Bank of China (China’s Central bank), WeChat has opened up a number of payment scenarios, such as train ticket purchase on 12306 and Didi chuxing ride ordering. More consumption scenarios will be coming later.
