Beijing (PingWest)- China’s market regulator is investigating home appliance maker Aux after Gree Electric accused its rival of selling substandard air conditioners.

The move come as Gree posted an open letter on its official Weibo on Monday, claiming that eight types of Aux’s air conditioner failed to meet energy efficiency standards, which would severely harm consumer’s interests.

Aux launched counterattack shortly after Gree’s post, saying that Gree was using unfair practice to damage its reputation ahead of the upcoming “618 shopping festival” as well as the peak season for air-conditioner sales.
