Apple’s upcoming operating system iOS 13.4 will support Alipay in Apple Pay, according to leaked code obtained by 9to5Mac. A shot screen leaked by a tech media IT Home unclosed the view of Alipay in Apple Pay. The media also said that the new feature will be released on March 18 at the iOS launch event at midnight.
Ali Pay is a cashless mobile payment developed by Alibaba, the e-commerce giant in China. It allows users to make a payment through either scan a QR code provided by merchants or show a QR code for merchants to scan to charge the users.
The new Apple Pay features are listed in the following:
- The QR code payment system will support PassKit API. User’s Alipay “QR code” is allowed to add to the Apple Pay wallet.
- The virtual “QR code” card is allowed to set as a default card which can be used by double-clicking the side button and then look at your iPhone to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID without the need to open the “Wallet” app.
- iPhone can read the QR code and then jump to Apple Pay.
