Beijing (PingWest)—China Mobile, the telecom operator, announced that it has awarded its first round of 5G network equipment contracts worth about $2 billion. According to the company, European telecom devices producers Ericsson and Nokia won key 5G contracts.
China Mobile has purchased 153 MME telecom equipment from Swedish Ericsson, accounting for 34% of the company's procurements. Nokia offers 56 units, accounting for 12%.
In terms of SAE telecommunications equipment, Ericsson provided 231 units, accounting for 34% of China Mobile's business, and Nokia provided 60 units, equivalent to about 9% of total purchases.
